Joining the Society

.The Canterbury Society of Art welcomes artists of all levels of ability, from the newest beginner to seasoned professionals, and embraces artistic practice of all kinds and in all media.

We offer a varied programme of events for around 40 weeks a year, arranged in two sessions, from March to July and September to February. The meetings take place on Mondays.

The programme includes talks, demonstrations, practical painting sessions, including life drawing of costume and nude models, and critiques. We believe our programme is more comprehensive than any other art society in the area and offers excellent value for a very reasonable subscription. For full details of the current programme, please go to the 'Meetings' page.

Membership of the Society is open to anyone with a practical interest in the visual arts who is over the age of 16 years at the time of the AGM in the year of joining, subject to the approval of the Committee and to the payment of the appropriate subscription fee.

No person shall be excluded or debarred from membership, or from any official capacity on the Committee, on the grounds of age, sex, race, colour, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation.

Membership is £20 per annum, with pro-rata reductions for members who join for the first time part-way through the society's year, which runs from February to the following January. Please ask the Membership Secretary for details.

Anyone interested in joining the Society, but would like to see what we do first, is invited to contact the Secretary or Membership Secretary and to attend one of our Monday evening meetings as a guest.
